Ingredients
- Plain chocolate (250 g)
- Butter (175 g)
- Granulated Sugar (175 g)
- Eggs (5)
- Flour (125 g)
- Milk (2 tablespoons)
- Salt (pinch)
Instructions
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare an 8-inch round springform cake pan by greasing and lining the bottom with baking parchment.
- In a heatproof bowl, break the plain chocolate into pieces and melt it over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Alternatively, you can melt it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and granulated sugar, and cream them together using a wooden spoon until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Gradually incorporate the eggs, adding a bit of flour if the mixture starts to curdle.
- Fold in the remaining flour, the cooled melted chocolate, and milk until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the center is firm and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before turning it out to cool completely on a wire rack.
