Ingredients

  • All purpose flour (1.5 cups)
  • Cornmeal (0.5 cups)
  • Sugar (6 tablespoons)
  • Baking Powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Vanilla Extract (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (0.5 teaspoons)
  • Milk (0.75 cups)
  • Oil (For frying)

Instructions

Steps

  1. Heat a pot with at least 3 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt, mixing well.
  3. Add vanilla extract and milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Use your hands to gently shape it into a ball.
  4. Take small portions of dough and roll them into oval shapes, making around 12 dumplings.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully fry the dumplings until they are golden brown on all sides, which should take about 4-6 minutes.
  6. Remove the dumplings from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve warm and enjoy!
