Ingredients

  • Potatoes (4 cups)
  • Minced Beef (450 g)
  • Creamed Corn (500 ml)
  • Milk (½ cup)
  • Butter (60 ml)
  • Onion (1 finely chopped)
  • Paprika (to taste)
  • Parsley (to taste)
  • Salt (Dash)
  • Pepper (Dash)

Instructions

Steps

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook potatoes until very tender. Drain the potatoes once cooked.
  2. Coarsely mash the potatoes with butter, then use an electric mixer to purée them with milk. Season with salt and pepper, and set aside.
  3. Preheat your oven to 190 °C (375 °F) with the rack in the middle position.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the remaining butter and sauté the onion until browned. Add minced beef and cook until golden brown, seasoning with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
  5. In an 8-inch square baking dish, press the meat mixture evenly at the bottom. Layer with creamed corn and top with the mashed potatoes. Finish by sprinkling with paprika and parsley.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes, then broil to finish cooking. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
