Ingredients

  • Flour (450g)
  • Caster Sugar (55g)
  • Yeast (2 parts)
  • Salt (0.5 tsp)
  • Milk (180 ml)
  • Eggs (2 Beaten)
  • Butter (30g)
  • Walnuts (140g)
  • Butter (85g)
  • Brown Sugar (85g)
  • Cinnamon (1 tsp)
  • Milk (To Glaze)
  • Icing Sugar (To Glaze)

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, caster sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add milk, and the beaten eggs along with butter. Knead the mixture until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the dough and allow it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 2 hours.
  4. Once risen, gently punch down the dough and knead it lightly.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll each piece into a rectangle measuring about 12 inches by 8 inches.
  6. For the filling, mix walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon together. Spread this mixture evenly over each rolled dough piece.
  7. Roll each rectangle tightly into a log shape to form two sausages, each about 12 inches long.
  8. Place the rolled dough side by side on a greased baking sheet, ensuring they are touching. Cover and let rise for another 40 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 200ºC (425ºF).
  10. Bake the rolls for 30-35 minutes or until they are puffed up and golden brown. They should sound hollow when tapped.
  11. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with milk. Finally, dust generously with icing sugar before serving.
