Instructions
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, caster sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add milk, and the beaten eggs along with butter. Knead the mixture until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and allow it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 2 hours.
- Once risen, gently punch down the dough and knead it lightly.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll each piece into a rectangle measuring about 12 inches by 8 inches.
- For the filling, mix walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon together. Spread this mixture evenly over each rolled dough piece.
- Roll each rectangle tightly into a log shape to form two sausages, each about 12 inches long.
- Place the rolled dough side by side on a greased baking sheet, ensuring they are touching. Cover and let rise for another 40 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 200ºC (425ºF).
- Bake the rolls for 30-35 minutes or until they are puffed up and golden brown. They should sound hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and brush the tops with milk. Finally, dust generously with icing sugar before serving.
